Social Sailing Report 2019

Social Sailing Report 2019

Our social sailing season ran for 6 months from the end of April using Toppers, Pico’s and 2.4 keelboats. All the participants continued to gain experience in a range of conditions, encouraged by Kevan, a qualified RYA instructor, and backed up by a small team of volunteers. During the season the 2.4’s were upgraded to provide more lateral support for sailors with diminished core strength thanks to REMAP and this greatly improved their sailing experience and performance.

We are looking for more participants to learn to sail and join the fleet next season so whether you are an experienced dingy sailor  who now has restricted mobility or newly disabled and want to try a new activity come and see what our amazing single handed keelboats can offer you, on a beautiful stretch of the Thames at Bisham.

Accessible Boating Thames Summer Season 2019

Accessible Boating Thames Summer Season 2019

As well as our Spring and Autumn sessions of Social Sailing (which take place on Sundays) this year we have also run sessions right through the summer holidays but on Mondays. The final Monday session will be on 26th  August with the autumn sessions starting on Sunday 1st September.

We have had nine regulars on the Monday sessions o there is plenty of room for anyone interested who is qualified at level 2 RYA dinghy sailing. Qualifying can be done through the Bisham Abbey Sailing School which is a Sailability Centre (or at any other similar centre). You can learn and then enjoy the social sailing in the safe environment of the River Thames at Bisham Abbey.
