What criteria was used by the trustees to decide who the organisation benefits or what work it does or supports?
Whilst much of our work is done with Special Educational Need Schools we welcome anyone with accessibility problems to take part. We aim to provide benefits for anyone with a disability – physical or mental.
What facilities/services are provided?
Currently we use Bisham Abbey Sailing & Navigation School (BASNS) premises and river frontage for regular accessible boating sessions. Annually we hope to use Bisham Abbey premises for an accessible regatta. We hope to extend the provisions as the charity progresses.
When can the public access the facility or service?
We run regular Accessible Boating sessions on Sundays during our season and at other times by appointment. Bisham Abbey is the home of the National Sports Centre and we restrict access to those using our services to the Sailing School on that site. When we have our annual regatta we will have wider access to the Bisham Abbey grounds specifically agreed with the centre management for that period.
Who owns the land or property?
The National Sports Centre, Bisham Abbey is managed by SERCO and we will negotiate with them when using the larger site. The small part of the site that we will be using more often is leased by Bisham Abbey Sailing & Navigation School Ltd
What is the land or property used for?
Bisham Abbey Sailing & Navigation School Ltd occupies the land and also uses it for storing boats and for accessing the river. The Sailing School use the land for providing training in Sailing, Helmsmanship, Navigation and related subjects. The Sailing School allows Accessible Boating (Thames) to use the land for recreational purposes.
